Manimekala

For as long as she could remember, Manimekala’s mother, grandmother, and aunts shared their love of textiles with her, helping her make clothes far before she could actually sew. Continuing her long family legacy, Manimekala went into the world of dressmaking but was completely appalled by the exploitative mainstream fashion system. She decided that she had to do something about combining aesthetics and ethics, and so she launched her own fashion line specialising in joyful, statement textiles inspired by her British-Indian heritage. Her brand resonates with women of all ages across the world and has been worn by UK first ladies Akshata Murty and Carrie Johnson, seen in national media such as the Telegraph, Red magazine and Grazia, and featured in Isabel Spearman’s Daily Dress Edit pop ups.
